This is for Axis cardholders with a balance of EDGE Miles or EDGE Reward Points who want to know whether to book on Travel EDGE or convert to an airline or hotel programme. It settles the partner list, the ratio that applies to each card, the two-group structure, the caps and fees, and how the paths compare in rupees.

Quick Answer: Atlas transfers 1 EDGE Mile to 2 partner miles and Olympus 1 to 4, capped at 1.5 lakh and 7.5 lakh miles a year; Magnus transfers 5 EDGE Reward Points to 2 partner miles (5 to 4 on the Burgundy variant and Reserve), capped at 5 lakh points; Travel EDGE pays a flat ₹1 per mile, so transfer only for awards that beat it.

Two currencies, two sets of ratios

Axis runs two reward currencies with similar names, and the transfer maths depends on which one your card earns.

EDGE Miles are earned by Atlas (2 per ₹100, 5 per ₹100 on travel) and Olympus (1 per ₹100, 2 abroad). One mile redeems for ₹1 on Travel EDGE. On transfer, Atlas converts 1 mile to 2 partner miles and Olympus 1 mile to 4.

EDGE Reward Points are earned by Magnus (12 per ₹200 up to ₹1.5 lakh a month, 35 above), Magnus for Burgundy, Reserve (15 per ₹200), Select and Privilege (10 per ₹200). One point redeems for ₹0.20 on the EDGE store or as statement credit. On transfer, the standard Magnus converts 5 points to 2 partner miles; Magnus for Burgundy and Reserve convert 5 points to 4.

That means the same 10,000 units are worth ₹10,000 on Travel EDGE if they are Atlas miles, and ₹2,000 on the store if they are Magnus points; and on transfer they become 20,000 partner miles from Atlas, 40,000 from Olympus, 4,000 from Magnus and 8,000 from Magnus for Burgundy. Always convert to partner miles before comparing cards.

The partner list

Axis divides its airline partners into two groups. The groups exist because the bank limits how many miles can go to each group in a period, and moves partners between them; the list recorded against Atlas at our last verification:

Group Programme Type
A Club Vistara (now Air India Maharaja Club after the 2024 merger) Airline
A Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Airline
A British Airways Avios Airline
B Emirates Skywards Airline
B Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles Airline
B Air France-KLM Flying Blue Airline
B Etihad Guest Airline
Hotels Accor Live Limitless Hotel
Hotels IHG One Rewards Hotel
Hotels Marriott Bonvoy Hotel

Transfers post immediately to within 24 hours in most cases. Axis has removed and reshuffled partners since the April 2024 revision that created the two groups; the list on the Travel EDGE transfer page is the one that counts on the day you transfer.

Ratios and caps by card

Card Currency Transfer ratio Annual transfer cap Transfer fee
Atlas EDGE Miles 1 mile = 2 partner miles 1.5 lakh miles None recorded
Olympus EDGE Miles 1 mile = 4 partner miles 7.5 lakh miles per customer ID ₹199 + GST (₹235)
Magnus EDGE Reward Points 5 points = 2 partner miles 5 lakh points ₹199 + GST (₹235)
Magnus for Burgundy EDGE Reward Points 5 points = 4 partner miles 5 lakh points ₹199 + GST (₹235)
Reserve EDGE Reward Points 5 points = 4 or 5 points = 2, by partner group Not recorded ₹199 + GST (₹235)

Olympus's 1:4 is the best ratio Axis offers and the reason the card exists as a Citi Prestige successor. Magnus for Burgundy's 5:4 is twice the standard Magnus ratio, which is most of the case for paying its higher fee if you transfer heavily.

What a unit is worth on each path

Partner miles are valued at ₹0.50 each as a working average; premium-cabin awards on KrisFlyer, Flying Blue and Emirates often price at ₹1 or more a mile, economy awards often under ₹0.50.

Path Atlas mile Olympus mile Magnus point Magnus for Burgundy point
Travel EDGE booking ₹1.00 ₹1.00 Not applicable Not applicable
EDGE store or statement credit Not applicable Not applicable ₹0.20 ₹0.20
Transfer, partner mile at ₹0.50 ₹1.00 ₹2.00 ₹0.20 ₹0.40
Transfer, partner mile at ₹1.00 (premium-cabin award) ₹2.00 ₹4.00 ₹0.40 ₹0.80

Two conclusions follow. On Atlas, transferring only beats Travel EDGE when the partner mile is worth more than ₹0.50, which rules out most economy awards. On Olympus, the break-even is ₹0.25 a partner mile, which almost every award clears, so Olympus miles should nearly always be transferred rather than spent on Travel EDGE. On Magnus, the store value is so low that any reasonable transfer wins, but the 5:2 ratio means you need 2.5 points per partner mile.

Worked example: 1 lakh units on each card

Assume a Delhi to Singapore business-class award on KrisFlyer at about 62,000 miles one way, with a cash fare of about ₹1.2 lakh, so a KrisFlyer mile is worth about ₹1.90 on this award.

Card Units held Partner miles after transfer Value on this award Value on Travel EDGE or store instead
Atlas 1,00,000 miles 2,00,000 KrisFlyer miles About ₹3.8 lakh (three such awards) ₹1,00,000
Olympus 1,00,000 miles 4,00,000 KrisFlyer miles About ₹7.6 lakh (six awards) ₹1,00,000
Magnus 1,00,000 points 40,000 KrisFlyer miles About ₹76,000 (short of one award) ₹20,000
Magnus for Burgundy 1,00,000 points 80,000 KrisFlyer miles About ₹1.52 lakh (one award and change) ₹20,000

The Olympus row is why its earn rate does not matter as much as its transfer ratio. The Magnus row is why Magnus is a spend card rather than a transfer card: it takes ₹8.3 lakh of spend at the base rate to earn 50,000 points, which becomes 20,000 partner miles. The Atlas cap of 1.5 lakh miles a year means the Atlas holder above could transfer the whole balance in one year but not much more.

How to decide, in order

  1. Convert to partner miles first. Multiply Atlas miles by 2, Olympus miles by 4, Magnus points by 0.4, Magnus for Burgundy points by 0.8.
  2. Price the award. Divide the cash fare by the partner miles the award needs.
  3. Compare with the floor. Atlas: transfer if the partner mile is worth more than ₹0.50. Olympus: transfer if more than ₹0.25. Magnus: transfer if more than ₹0.50 (the ₹0.20 store value divided by 0.4).
  4. Check the group and the cap. Confirm the partner is still listed and which group it sits in, and that the transfer fits under the annual cap and any group sub-limit.
  5. Transfer only what the award needs. The ₹199 + GST (₹235) fee is per request, and transferred miles cannot come back.

Hotel transfers

Accor Live Limitless, IHG One Rewards and Marriott Bonvoy accept EDGE transfers at the same card ratios. Hotel points are generally worth less than airline miles (Marriott Bonvoy points price at about ₹0.50 on Indian stays), so an Atlas mile becoming 2 Bonvoy points is worth about ₹1, the same as Travel EDGE, and a Magnus point becoming 0.4 Bonvoy points is worth about ₹0.20, the same as the store. Hotel transfers rarely beat the fixed paths; they make sense only for a specific high-value redemption or to top up a balance for a specific stay.

Who should transfer

Transfer if:

  • You hold Olympus; the 1:4 ratio makes almost every award better than Travel EDGE.
  • You hold Atlas and have a premium-cabin long-haul award in mind on KrisFlyer, Flying Blue or Emirates.
  • You hold Magnus for Burgundy or Reserve and want the 5:4 ratio to work on a specific award.

Book on Travel EDGE if:

  • You hold Atlas and want domestic flights, economy tickets or hotels; the ₹1 floor beats those awards.
  • You are near the annual cap and would rather keep the transfer room for a bigger award.

Redeem on the store only if:

  • You hold Magnus and have no travel planned; even then, at ₹0.20 a point, wait for a transfer opportunity.

The Olympus vs Magnus vs Atlas comparison covers the earning side of the same three cards.
