What makes SBI Card's lineup distinctive.
SBI Card is the largest non-bank credit-card issuer in India by cards-in-force and the only major issuer structured as a standalone NBFC rather than a bank-owned division. The lineup has been narrower than HDFC or ICICI historically — around 7 mainstream SKUs — but spans the whole fee spectrum from SimplyCLICK at ₹499 to Aurum at ₹9,999.
The lineup architecture has shifted meaningfully in 2024–25. The older ELITE and PRIME core-rewards cards sit at the ₹2,999–₹4,999 tier but have lost share to the Cashback SBI (₹999, 5% flat online) which is the simplest-math card the issuer has ever shipped. Aurum sits at the invite-only top. Co-brands are the other half of the lineup — BPCL Octane for fuel, SimplyCLICK for online, and critically the Air India SBI Signature and Platinum cards which are the only Air India co-brands in the Indian market after Citi exited the segment.
SBI Reward Points redeem at 0.25 per point as statement credit or up to 1.0 per point on category-specific vouchers in the SBI Rewards catalog — a 4× gap that makes catalog redemption mandatory if you want the card math to work. The Air India cards earn directly in Air India reward points (no SBI conversion friction), which is a structural advantage over any SBI mainstream card for flyers who actually use Air India.
The bank's co-brand strategy is its real differentiator. BPCL Octane delivers roughly 6.25% back on BPCL fuel spend (25 points per ₹100 within category caps), Cashback SBI delivers the simplest online cashback in the market at ₹999 fee, and Air India Signature replaces the departed Citi PremierMiles as the de facto Air India flyer card. Mainstream SBI rewards cards (ELITE, PRIME, SimplyCLICK) are less competitive versus HDFC and ICICI equivalents, but the co-brands carry the lineup.
