Tata Neu Infinity vs Swiggy HDFC vs Millennia: Which HDFC Card for a ₹30,000 Household

HDFC's three everyday cards compared: NeuCoins on Tata brands and UPI, 10% cashback on Swiggy, 5% CashPoints on partner brands, with fees after GST, caps, lounge access and the effective rate for a household spending ₹30,000 a month.

This is for anyone choosing an everyday HDFC card, the one that pays for groceries, food delivery and online shopping rather than flights. It settles which of the three fits which household, with the caps and exclusions that the headline rates hide.

Quick Answer: Swiggy HDFC (₹590 a year) earns the most on food delivery and online shopping; Millennia (₹1,180) has the broadest partner list; Tata Neu Infinity (₹1,769) wins only inside the Tata ecosystem, where it pays 5% to 10% and adds UPI earning and lounges.

Head-to-head

Feature Swiggy HDFC Millennia Tata Neu Infinity
Annual fee ₹500 + GST (₹590) ₹1,000 + GST (₹1,180) ₹1,499 + GST (₹1,769)
Fee waiver ₹2 lakh spend ₹1 lakh spend ₹3 lakh spend
Welcome benefit 3-month Swiggy One on activation within 30 days 1,000 CashPoints on paying the joining fee 1,499 NeuCoins on the first transaction within 30 days
Currency Cashback, statement credit CashPoints, ₹1 each on statement credit (₹50 redemption fee) NeuCoins, ₹1 each on the Tata Neu app
Top rate 10% on Swiggy, Instamart, Dineout, Genie; ₹1,500 cap a cycle 5% on partner brands (Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, Tata CLiQ, Swiggy, Zomato, Uber, BookMyShow, Sony LIV, Cult.fit); 1,000 CashPoints cap a month 5% on Tata brands; up to 10% on select Tata Neu categories with NeuPass
Second rate 5% on listed online shopping categories; ₹1,500 cap a cycle None; the 2.5% other-online tier was dropped 1.5% on other non-UPI spend and merchant EMI
Base rate 1%, ₹500 cap a cycle 1% Up to 1.5% on UPI (RuPay variant)
Lounge access None Up to 4 a year, chosen instead of the ₹1,000 quarterly voucher at ₹1 lakh quarterly spend 2 domestic vouchers a quarter on ₹50,000 quarterly spend; 4 international a year
Milestones None ₹1,000 voucher or a lounge voucher each quarter at ₹1 lakh spend None
Forex markup 3.5% 3.5% 3.5%
Income bar ₹25,000 a month ₹35,000 a month or ₹6 lakh ITR ₹1 lakh gross a month or ₹12 lakh ITR
Network Visa or Mastercard Visa or Mastercard Visa or RuPay (UPI on RuPay)

The income row is the first filter. Tata Neu Infinity's bar is three to four times the other two; a household earning ₹30,000 to ₹60,000 a month is choosing between Swiggy and Millennia, or the cheaper Tata Neu Plus.

Effective rate by spend category

The three cards reward different baskets. What each pays on ₹100 of spend in the categories a household actually has, after the September 2026 product-page verification:

Category Swiggy HDFC Millennia Tata Neu Infinity
Swiggy food, Instamart, Dineout 10% (to ₹1,500 a cycle) 5% (Swiggy is a partner brand; 1,000 CashPoints cap) 1.5%
Zomato 1% 5% (partner brand) 1.5%
Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra 5% if the category is on the online shopping list; else 1% 5% (partner brands) 1.5%
BigBasket, Croma, Westside, Tata 1mg 1% (or 5% for the listed categories) 1% 5% NeuCoins; up to 10% on the Tata Neu app with NeuPass
Uber, Ola 5% (local cabs listed) 5% Uber (partner brand) 1.5%
Air India 1% 1% 5% (Tata brand), but excluded from the NeuPass extra
UPI payments Not available Not available Up to 1.5% on RuPay
Utilities Excluded from cashback 1% 1% NeuCoins on Tata Pay; standard exclusions elsewhere
Fuel, rent, wallets, EMI Excluded Excluded or surcharged Excluded

The caps decide the rest. Swiggy's 10% is worth ₹1,500 a cycle, which is ₹15,000 of Swiggy spend; its 5% is worth another ₹1,500, or ₹30,000 of online shopping. Millennia's 1,000 CashPoints a month caps the 5% at ₹20,000 of partner spend. Tata Neu Infinity's NeuCoins are capped on grocery but otherwise uncapped on Tata brands.

The ₹30,000-a-month household

Take a household that spends ₹30,000 a month on the card: ₹6,000 on Swiggy and Instamart, ₹6,000 on Amazon and Flipkart, ₹6,000 on BigBasket or a local grocer, ₹4,000 on Uber and Zomato, ₹4,000 on utilities and ₹4,000 elsewhere.

Card Monthly cashback Annual cashback Fee Net
Swiggy HDFC ₹600 (Swiggy at 10%) + ₹300 (Amazon and Flipkart at 5%) + ₹80 (Uber at 5%, Zomato at 1%) + ₹100 (grocer and other at 1%) = about ₹1,080 ₹12,960 ₹590, waived at ₹2 lakh (₹3.6 lakh here) ₹12,960
Millennia ₹300 (Swiggy) + ₹300 (Amazon and Flipkart) + ₹150 (Uber, Zomato) + ₹140 (grocer, utilities, other at 1%) = about ₹890, under the 1,000-CashPoint cap ₹10,680 ₹1,180, waived at ₹1 lakh ₹10,680
Tata Neu Infinity (grocery at BigBasket) ₹300 (BigBasket at 5%) + ₹360 (everything else at 1.5%) = about ₹660 ₹7,920 ₹1,769, waived at ₹3 lakh ₹7,920
Tata Neu Infinity (all grocery, electronics and pharmacy at Tata brands, ₹15,000 a month) ₹750 (Tata brands at 5%) + ₹225 (rest at 1.5%) = about ₹975; more with NeuPass ₹11,700 ₹1,769, waived ₹11,700

Swiggy wins for this basket, Millennia is close behind with a broader spread, and Tata Neu Infinity only catches up when half the spend is inside the Tata ecosystem. Push the Swiggy share up and the Swiggy card pulls further ahead until its ₹1,500 cap at ₹15,000 of Swiggy spend; push the Tata share up and Infinity wins.

UPI on the Tata Neu RuPay card

Tata Neu Infinity and Tata Neu Plus are the only cards in this comparison that work on UPI, through their RuPay variants linked in the Tata Neu app or any UPI app. Infinity pays up to 1.5% NeuCoins on eligible UPI spend; Plus pays up to 1%. For a household that pays the kirana store, the milkman and the auto driver by UPI, that converts ₹5,000 to ₹10,000 of monthly spend that earns nothing on Swiggy or Millennia into ₹75 to ₹150 of NeuCoins a month. Grocery NeuCoins are capped, and fuel, wallet loads, rent and government payments earn nothing on UPI either.

Lounges and the other things that are not cashback

Only Tata Neu Infinity has real lounge access: two domestic vouchers a quarter on ₹50,000 of quarterly spend, up to eight a year, plus four international visits a year through Priority Pass (issued on request since June 2025) or the RuPay international programme. Millennia's lounge benefit is a trade: each quarter you spend ₹1 lakh, one domestic lounge voucher or a ₹1,000 gift voucher, not both. Swiggy has none.

All three charge 3.5% on foreign transactions and none is a good card abroad.

Who should get it

Get Swiggy HDFC if:

  • ₹8,000 or more of your monthly spend is on Swiggy, Instamart, Dineout or Genie.
  • You want the cheapest fee and the simplest waiver at ₹2 lakh.
  • You do not need lounge access.

Get Millennia if:

  • Your online spend is spread across Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, Uber and Zomato rather than concentrated on Swiggy.
  • You want the option of a lounge voucher or a ₹1,000 gift voucher each quarter at ₹1 lakh of spend.
  • Your income is between ₹35,000 and ₹1 lakh a month, where this is HDFC's default first card.

Get Tata Neu Infinity if:

  • You clear the ₹1 lakh monthly income bar and half or more of your spend is at Tata brands or on the Tata Neu app.
  • You pay by UPI often and want it to earn.
  • You want eight domestic lounge vouchers a year on an everyday card.

Get Tata Neu Plus instead if:

  • You shop Tata brands but earn under ₹1 lakh a month; at ₹499 + GST (₹589) it pays 2% on Tata brands, 1% elsewhere and up to 1% on UPI, with one lounge voucher a quarter on ₹50,000 of spend.

Break-even

Card Fee after GST Spend to recover the fee at the top rate Spend to waive the fee
Swiggy HDFC ₹590 ₹5,900 on Swiggy ₹2 lakh
Millennia ₹1,180 ₹23,600 at partner brands ₹1 lakh
Tata Neu Infinity ₹1,769 ₹35,400 at Tata brands ₹3 lakh

None of the three fees is a real obstacle; all are recovered in one or two months of ordinary use and waived at spend levels a ₹30,000-a-month household reaches. The choice is about where the spend goes, not the fee.
