04 ABOUT DBS BANK CREDIT CARDS

What makes DBS Bank's lineup distinctive.

DBS Bank India runs the smallest credit-card lineup among major foreign banks operating in the country — a single invite-only Visa Infinite metal flagship, the DBS Vantage, against HSBC's four-SKU and Standard Chartered's three-SKU mainstream books. The bank's retail strategy in India is concentrated at the super-premium end, tied to its Treasures and Elite wealth-management relationships rather than pursued through a traditional fee-tier ladder.

The architecture is deliberately single-product. There is no entry-tier rewards card, no mid-market cashback workhorse and no co-brand bench. The fee structure itself is relationship-tiered on the same card — DBS Elite customers pay ₹10,000 joining and annual, DBS Treasures customers pay ₹20,000, and other invited customers pay ₹50,000 (all before 18% GST) for identical benefits. That segmented fee design is unique in the Indian market and signals the card's function as a relationship-banking reward rather than a standalone shopping product.

Vantage Points are the currency and they carry one of the best redemption rates in the foreign-bank space. Through the DBS Delights rewards platform 3 VP redeems against a ₹1 instant e-voucher, which lands the statement-equivalent value at ₹0.33 per point but with instant e-voucher conversion available at a higher ratio. 4 VP per ₹200 on domestic spends (effective 2%) and 8 VP per ₹200 on non-Singapore international spends (effective 4%) on the Delights path outperform most ₹5,000-fee Indian cards at equivalent spend, though the card's closer peers on fee economics are HDFC Infinia Metal and ICICI Emeralde Private Metal at the ₹12,500-plus band.

The Singapore-specific 0% forex markup is the card's structural differentiator. No other Indian card waives forex markup in a named country; most either charge a flat 3.5% across all foreign transactions or a flat 1% on all of them (RBL World Safari). Outside Singapore the Vantage charges 1.75% forex — itself lower than the 3.5% market standard — and the KFS notes that 1.75% may still apply in Singapore for DCC/INR transactions or ATM withdrawals. The structure is narrow but it is the reason the card exists: DBS India's Singapore-group banking relationship translates directly into a country-specific forex benefit that no domestic issuer can replicate.
